Planting mangroves to prevent global warming

If the community and the government are serious to prevent global warming, the mangrove forests should be saved and preserved. Mangrove forest conversion should be canceled; even mangrove forests should be expanded. Mangroves will definitely keep people and ecosystems that exist around the mangrove forest. Mangroves prevent coastal erosion and abrasion.

Mangrove has a tremendous benefit as described below:

Saving the island and stabilize the beach.
One role and also the benefits of mangrove ecosystems, mangrove root system is a complex and tight, dense to trap traces of organic matter and sediment carried by the sea from the mainland. This process cause’s seawater kept clean and thus saved the life of sea grass beds and coral reefs. Since this process is often said to be forming the mangrove land for sediment and soil withheld foster the development of the coastline from time to time.

The growth of coastal mangroves is to expand boundaries and provide an opportunity for terrestrial plants and thrive in the mainland. The roots of mangrove trees also keep the edge of the beach from erosion. Viviparous fruit can roam washed up settling on a shallow foundation can grow and become a collection of new mangrove habitat. In the period of time this new habitat extends into the island itself.

 Mangrove able to purify water
Root respiration (peg roots) of the fires is not only serves to plant respiration, but also play a role in capturing sediment and can clear the content of chemicals from water that comes from the mainland and flows into the sea.  When the river water through the roots of a tree peg fires, the chemicals can be released and the water continues to flow into the ocean to be clean. Many people see this as an area of marginal land that is useless so fill it with soil to make it more productive.

The beginning of the food chain
Mangrove leaves fall and into the water, after reaching base decomposed by micro-organisms (bacteria and fungi). This decomposition is food for larvae and small animals of water, which in turn fall prey to larger animals and land animals living or visiting in the mangrove habitat.

Protects and nourishes marine life
The roots of mangrove trees sticks provide nutrients and a nursery area for fish and invertebrate animals that live in the vicinity. Fish and shrimp are caught in the ocean and coral reefs in the area before the adults need protection from predators and a sufficient supply of nutrients in the mangrove area. Different types of land animal shelter or stop perching and foraging in mangrove habitat.

 Benefits for people
Coastal communities generally recognize that mangrove forests are very useful and can be utilized in a variety of ways to make ends meet. Mangrove trees are strong woody trees and leafy. Starting from the root, bark, tree trunks, leaves and flowers can all be exploited by people. Some of the mangroves trees that direct usefulness can be felt in everyday life include:

Place a boat during bad weather
In bad weather conditions mangrove trees can be used as protection for boats and ships by tying the mangrove trees. It should be noted that this kind of method is not used as a mooring habit because it can damage the mangrove trees are concerned.

The leaves contain lots of protein. Young leaves tree fires can be eaten as vegetables. The leaves can be added to animal feed. Flower of mangrove contain a lot  liquid nectar by honey bees can be converted into a high quality. The fruit is bitter but when you cook it with care, the mangrove fruits are edible. Apparently mangroves also useful to be used as medicine, for example, to treat the subject of venomous snake bites.

Mangrove ecosystems provide many benefits both indirectly (non-economic value) as well as directly to human life (economic values). Mangrove trees will make the waterfront a more green and beautiful.

In addition to preventing global warming, mangrove forests could become a tourist destination, even as a place for research, education about the environment, so that students from elementary school, middle school, high school and college students from the university to study the mangrove. Thus the importance of awareness of mangrove forests (hutan bakau) will increase.

Coastal communities need to be assisted by various parties to plant mangrove trees. Apparently a lot of volunteers, students, environmental organizations and others who organized the event and rescue planting mangrove forests in various regions in Indonesia. This activity is very positive, the local government, environmental activists the ministry of forestry and environment ministries have to help and support these activities.
Mangrove forest is a green belt along the coast and islands. If the green coastline due to the presence of mangrove forests, then the intentions and programs to prevent global warming will largely be realized.
